It lasts about twenty minutes and then it rains. This painting is those twenty minutes.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEvery cloud is a single curled stroke. The paint went on thick and was turned once, so each mark keeps its own ridge and shadow instead of blending into the next one. That is why the surface reads as volume rather than pattern: the blues sit physically higher than the violets, and the whole canvas changes as the light moves across the room. It sits between the dark blues and the pale ones and stops the piece from tipping into a storm. Take it out and this would be weather.
